School of Medicine
The School of Medicine generally restricts the role of Principal Investigator to full or part-time faculty. Those individuals within the School of Medicine who do not hold a facult position may still serve as Co-Investigators, but will not be able to submit research proposals without a faculty sponsor. This includes all students (undergraduate, graduate, professional), residents, and fellows. In certain cases, the Department Chair and Dean's Office may make exceptions to this rule.
For more information, please consult the School of Medicine's Principal Investigator Eligibility Policy. Please note that the IRB's own policies requires Principal Investigators from the School of Medicine to hold faculty rank.
Research Resources page has information, forms, and guidance regarding general research at Emory. More specific questions about research with human subjects may be directed to the Emory IRB.
